Bringing <i>Total Worker Health</i> ® into the Boardroom

This chapter covers some general US public company corporate governance activities. It brings ideas to safety professionals on how to approach supporting their C-Suite and boardroom leadership in having a robust boardroom conversation on people's safety, health, and well-being. The chapter helps the safety professionals to reflect on how they can bring Total Worker Health ® (TWH) oversight into their boardrooms. TWH can be included by a variety of names including human capital management, Environmental, Social, and Governance, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and more. As safety and health professionals build capabilities for interacting with boards on their TWH oversight, it requires an understanding of corporate governance. TWH has important elements to ensure that the company is taking steps to mitigate risks. There are a variety of risks that leadership considers when establishing a business strategy.
