In the early 2020s, the shortage of skilled labor in Russia is increasing. Official statistics are becoming insufficient to assess the state of the labor market. Due to the widespread use of the Internet, the search for employees and employers has largely moved to the digital sphere in the form of public vacancies and resumes. New sources of information based on big data technology make it possible to significantly complement the picture of the current state and functioning of the Russian labor market in the regional context. In this study, an aggregated database of 3 main online recruitment sites is used as a source. The article considers the differentiation of regions in terms of labor demand, which was studied in the following sections: employment method, qualifications, economic sphere and experience. The demand for labor, according to the database of public vacancies, has strong regional differences. At the same time, they are not chaotic in nature, but obey geographical patterns according to the main axes of regionalization of Russia and, above all, in the directions center – periphery (method of employment and qualifications) and the old–developed West – underdeveloped east (economic sphere and work experience). The remaining axes of regionalization are practically not manifested in the demand for labor. At the same time, there was no correlation between the regional structure of labor demand and Rosstat data on the structure of employees according to OKVED-2. The main factors determining the structure of labor demand in the regions are the structure of the regional economy and population density.
