A Study of the EM Scattering from the Sea Skimming Target at the Multi-Scale Sea Environment

This paper aims at simulating and analyzing the EM scattering from the sea skimming target at the multi-scale sea environment. The multi-scale sea surface model is set up considering the Bragg structure and the whitecap layers. The sea surface scattering is calculated by a modified Facet Based Small Slope Approximation method (FBSSA). The scattering from the target and the interactions between the target and the sea surface is calculated by the Physical Optics (PO) approximation method, the Equivalent Edge Current (EEC) method as well as the GO-PO method respectively. Finally, the simulations of the EM scattering from the sea skimming target at different sea states are made. The results show the backward EM scattering can get significantly intensified at the higher sea states.
