Zinc oxide in quantum information science (a short review): from growth techniques to applications

This paper provides an extensive review of the potential of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) based materials for Quantum Information Science starting from advanced synthesis methods up to basic quantum applications. ZnO is a promising material for Quantum Information Science as it demonstrates quantum related properties such as single-photon emission along with spin control, ferromagnetism, tunable bandgap, anomalous Hall effect and quantum transport capabilities. These properties are observed in ZnO grown from various synthesis methods including pulsed laser deposition, chemical vapor deposition, physical vapor deposition, molecular beam epitaxy, solution synthesis, and sputtering. Analytical techniques including optical, magnetic and structural analysis are employed to investigate the quantum-related features of these ZnO-based materials. This paper summarizes the role of ZnO in Quantum Information Science and its applications through a comprehensive review of existing literature.
