Advancing SLM-based display engines for AR/VR: from concept to market

This paper presents a comprehensive overview on transitioning a display engine based on spatial light modulators (SLMs) from concept to market. It highlights the advantages of collaborative efforts across all segments of the AR/VR ecosystem, demonstrating that choosing a vertically integrated manufacturing partner is a proven strategy for rapid and successful market entry. Spatial light modulators are crucial for creating dynamic, high-resolution displays essential for immersive AR/VR experiences. SLMs are still new to the industry. Therefore, manufacturing as well as integrating and testing technologies are not yet standardized.
