Improvement of Control Mode Switching Method for Copper Loss Reduction of Induction Machines

This paper reports on improvements of control mode switching to reduce the copper loss of induction machines. As an operating condition, the control mode operates as primary flux control in the light load region and as vector control in the heavy load region. Under the above conditions, in order to suppress the transient torque ripple that occur when switching control modes, the lookup table data of switching gains for loads is utilized. As a result, it is shown that copper loss in the light load region can be reduced by control mode switching, and that the transient torque ripple can be suppressed by using table data for switching.
