Supporting R&M in MBSE Development: Lessons Learned in Vertical Lift Platforms

Digital Transformation across Department of Defense (DoD) agencies will enhance the systems engineering process by enabling the integration of various discipline's digital artifacts/models during system life cycle development, including Reliability and Maintainability (R&M). This paper discusses lessons learned in developing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models for both Enduring Fleet and Future Vertical Lift (FVL) platforms, with focus on the unique considerations of R&M based on the authors' experience working on MBSE models across multiple Program Executive Office - Aviation (PEO AVN) program offices.
