Use of near infrared spectroscopy in post-acute care: analysis of real-world clinical decision-making

This analysis demonstrated that providers used NIRS selectively, in cases of greatest clinical complexity or worsening, and that NIRS was beneficial to: monitoring tissue oxygenation (StO₂; oxy- and deoxyhaemoglobin ratios); appropriate vascular referrals; and effective and efficient debridement. Modifications to the PoC based on NIRS imaging can provide improved healing rates while gaining efficiency and efficacy.
