Standard tables of sums of cross-sectional areas and stocks of normal willow stands in the taiga zone of the European North of Russia

This paper presents the standards recommended for use in determining the relative density and growing stock of willow stands by bonitets in the taiga zone of the European North of Russia. It was found that these forest taxation standards for willow had not been developed previously and standards for aspen were used instead, which led to cer-tain errors due to the difference in the shape of the tree trunks of these species. In our country, willow (Salix L.) is wide-spread almost everywhere; according to various sources, there are from 300 to 550 species in the world, of which more than 130 species are in Russia, as well as more than 30 in the taiga zone of the European North. Field material was collected from 2018 to 2024 in the North Taiga and Dvinsko-Vychegodsky districts of the Arkhangelsk region. The methods adopted in forest taxation were used for collecting and processing field materials. The standards were devel-oped on the basis of 53 test plots and using model trees aged 15-70 years and with a breast height diameter of 4-16 cm. Among the model trees, the most common species were goat willow (Salix carpea L.) and northern willow (Salix bore-alis Fries.), less often the three-stamen willow (Salix triandra L.), and hybrids of these species were quite common.
