Insights Behind Qualifying a CUI Preventive Coating

Corrosion under insulation (CUI) poses a severe threat to many industries operating at elevated temperatures. One of the most used methods to prevent CUI is organic coatings. Over the last several decades, the importance of CUI-preventive coatings has increased greatly, and standards for testing these coatings have been published. Extensive testing has been performed to qualify coating systems as well as to provide insight and knowledge regarding the correlations and differences between various CUI test methods. This article aims to give insight into qualification testing of CUI-preventive coatings using results from three different coating systems.
