Optimizing Sustainable Renewable Energy Generation through the Integration of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) Technology and Solar Power

The increasing global energy demand and reliance on non-renewable resources have led to significant environmental and economic challenges, particularly in rural regions. To address these issues, this study investigates an integrated renewable energy system combining a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) with solar panels to optimize energy generation for rural electrification. The proposed system is designed to produce a consistent 600 watts output, with varying energy contributions from the VAWT (25%, 50%, and 75%) and solar panels, ensuring reliability across different environmental conditions. The methodology includes computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for VAWT performance analysis, empirical calculations for solar panel efficiency, and experimental validation of power generation. The results demonstrate that a 75% VAWT and 25% solar configuration is optimal, balancing power generation efficiency and spatial constraints. CFD simulations confirm a maximum force coefficient of 1.77 for VAWT, correlating with real-world power output predictions. The experimental validation reveals that this hybrid system enhances energy reliability while reducing land usage compared to standalone solar or wind systems. Additionally, the research underscores the viability of implementing such hybrid systems for street lighting in rural Indian villages, promoting economic growth and sustainable energy solutions. By integrating VAWT and solar power, this study offers a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional energy sources, mitigating intermittency issues associated with standalone renewable systems. The findings contribute to advancing hybrid renewable energy applications, paving the way for scalable implementations in energy-deficient regions.
