Embedding Intergenerational Practice and Approaches in Northern Ireland—The Story So Far

Abstract This chapter highlights some of the developments in the United Kingdom that underpinned the establishment of Linking Generations Northern Ireland under the auspices of The Beth Johnson Foundation and then reflects on how it evolved with the support of Atlantic Philanthropies in 2009. The work of Linking Generations Northern Ireland has always been rooted in the wider international development of the intergenerational field This chapter tells the story of LGNI’s catalyst approach to supporting the development of intergenerational practice across Northern Ireland by taking a capacity building approach.
