Cerebelarni mutizem – predstavitev primera

Among the brain tumours, posterior fossa tumours are the most common brain tumours in children. The choice of treatment depends on the place and manner of growth of the tumour and the associated possibility of surgical removal, the type and spread of the tumour and the child's age. With the surgery, the surgeon tries to remove as much of the tumour as possible. However, sometimes, it is not possible to remove the tumour due to its location, or the removal would cause unacceptable neurological damage. The most common complication after posterior fossa tumour surgery is cerebellar mutism. In this article, we will present in more detail the occurrence of cerebellar mutism in a preschool girl after medulloblastoma surgery. We would like to emphasize the importance of early and continuous team rehabilitation for optimal recovery. We aim to fill the gap in the lack of professional articles (both in Slovenia and abroad) in the field of the rehabilitation after the onset of cerebellar mutism.
