Halo: a New Circular Footbridge and Elevator Connection in Vigo, Spain

<p>HALO is a new pedestrian bridge and urban elevator in Vigo (Spain), as a result of a design competition. It overcomes a height difference of over 40 m, connecting neighbourhoods and providing access to the new plaza on the roof of the intermodal station, while crossing over the AP-9 highway leading into the city. Its main components are an elevator tower and a circular walkway with a diameter of 84 m, featuring two divergent paths. These form a promenade and a viewpoint over Vigo’s estuary, one covered and sheltered from the rain, and the other open to the landscape. Completed in February 2024, it stands out for its finishes and architectural forms, as its structural design and construction process. </p>
