Modular geo-phase optics and photonics systems

Absence of structural discontinuities in liquid crystal polymer-based diffractive waveplates, and their compatibility with liquid crystal phase retarders enables their integration into high throughput multi-functional optical systems in a low-cost and high yield fabrication process. Geo-phase modular optics components of different functions are combined into millimeter thin photonics systems for applications such as lenses with multiple switchable focal lengths, electronic beam steering into multiple angles, switching between different states of beam shapes, and many more. The high throughput maintaining the compactness of the system is a result of the anti-reflection technology optimized for liquid crystal polymer films and utilization of low-loss electrodes for visible and infrared wavelengths. The technology also allows producing broadband and multi-spectral planar optics without compromising thickness or performance.
