Identification of endangered parts of urban fabric in the Belgrade area using the heat index

With the development of urbanization and the increasing anthropogenic impact on the environment, green areas are being reduced, and vegetation is being devastated. With the global rise in temperatures, as well as the prolonged duration of heatwaves, the negative effects on the population are becoming more severe, with the consequences being most strongly felt in urban areas. This has led to a growing interest in studying urban heat islands - parts of the city that retain heat for longer periods and affect the lives of the people living in those areas. Given that urban heat islands affect human health, energy consumption, and overall quality of life, they should receive greater attention in urban and spatial planning in order to either significantly reduce or completely eliminate their effects. This paper presents data on the impact of the urban heat island eff ECT in the Belgrade area through the calculation of a heat risk index using GIS technologies. The main goal of this approach was to identify the most vulnerable parts of the urban fabric (in this specific methodology, statistical units). The resulting data were also cartographically represented using GIS technologies.
