Preliminary study of composite plastic/elpasolite scintillator

Preliminary experimental investigation of plastic-CLYC composite scintillator for multi-mode detection of gamma rays, fast neutrons, and thermal neutrons, utilizing miniature crystals of CLYC elpasolite embedded in a plastic scintillator framework. Digital electronics provide log time-stamped, list-mode-event data for neutron and gamma energy spectroscopy. Integration of the composite scintillator with digital electronics and readout into a portable, compact detector then can be applied to isotope identification for the laboratory or field use.
