Routine 36-Week Scan: Diagnosis of Fetal Abnormalities

(Abstracted from Ultrasound Obstet Gynecol 2025;65:427–435) Routine prenatal care typically includes ultrasound at around 12 and 20 weeks’ gestation to detect fetal abnormalities and assess pregnancy health. Some evidence now supports adding a 36-week scan, which can help predict fetal size, identify noncephalic presentations, assess preeclampsia risk, and anticipate adverse perinatal outcomes.
