The genome sequence of the Pink Pigeon, Nesoenas mayeri (Prévost, 1843)

We present a genome assembly from an individual female <i>Nesoenas mayeri</i> (the Pink Pigeon; Chordata; Aves; Columbiformes; Columbidae). The genome sequence is 1,183.3 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 40 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z and W sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 16.97 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 16,730 protein coding genes. The primary assembly achieves the Earth Biogenome Project reference standard of 6.C.Q62.
