Relationship between Anode Slime Layer Generated from Sn-Sb-In System Electrode and Passivation

In order to investigate the relationship between passivation behavior and the anode slime layer formed on a Sn–Sb–In system electrode, we employed chronopotentiometry along with cross-sectional analysis of the anode layer using microscopic observation and elemental mapping. Our results show that the anode slime layer structure varied depending on anode composition. The more In included in electrodes, the more porous the anode slime layer became under these experimental conditions. The experiment result suggests that Sn2+ transfer was prevented by the anode slime layer, which was less effective when the anode slime layer was thin and porous than when thick and not porous.
