Optimizing use of innovative medical devices in the family medicine and primary care settings

The rapid evolution of medical technology and the proliferation of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic devices have transformed healthcare delivery across all levels. However, their optimal integration into <i>family medicine and primary care</i> remains both an opportunity and a challenge. As India strengthens its primary healthcare system through initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat and Health and Wellness Centres, the role of appropriate technology-including affordable, portable, and user-friendly medical devices-has never been more crucial. This editorial explores strategies to ensure the practical and ethical use of innovative medical devices in the primary care context, with a focus on cost-effectiveness, evidence-based adoption, capacity building, and patient safety.
