Patients Who Screen Positive for Suicide Risk Incidental to Their Chief Complaint in the Emergency Department: Characteristics and Post-Visit Suicide Outcomes

The results of this study highlight an opportunity to broaden evidence-based suicide prevention practices in the ED where logistically possible. EDs may need to consider redesigning their clinical approach to address suicide risk among those who present with medical complaints but screen positive for suicide risk.
