Changing public opinions of cultural norms

This is also based, respectively, and in part, on the surveys by Younes and colleagues4 and Taylor and colleagues.5 Knowledge influences our emotional reactions and empathy, and emotions influence cognition and perception. Changing public opinion and cultural norms is clearly a knowledge, science-based process to influence perception and feelings. Diversity of opinion and attitude are all very well in a ‘democratic’ society, but a unified sensibility is called for when it comes to our relationships with and treatment of animals.
