A demonstration of the robotics application based on ROS2 over IoT DEP

The IoT Data Exchange Platform (IoT DEP) has been standardized in ISO/IEC JTC1/SC41 as an IoT platform. This platform provides communication of lightweight protocols for various IoT services. Conventionally, the framework of this platform has been standardized in ISO/IEC 30161 parts 1 and 2, e.g., requirements, architecture, and definition of functional blocks in a component. In the next step, specifications of this platform are planned to specify collaboration with applications. This paper reports system verification on the robotics application over IoT DEP. It describes the implementation of the prototype, including collaboration between Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2) and IoT DEP, when Data Distribution Service (DDS) is applied to a transfer mechanism. This prototype aims to verify a key feature of autonomous driving, achieved through the combination of sensors and actuators in a mini-robotics car. The verification in this paper contributes to the expanded standard of IoT DEP, i.e., ISO/IEC 30161-3.
