<i>(Invited)</i> Advancing Battery Manufacturing with Activated Dry Electrode ^® Technology

The growing demand for high-performance, scalable, and sustainable energy storage solutions has driven the need for innovative electrode manufacturing techniques. Traditional slurry-based electrode fabrication methods present challenges related to solvent usage, energy consumption, and production inefficiencies. LiCAP Technologies' Activated Dry Electrode ® process offers a transformative approach, enabling the manufacturing of high-performance electrodes without the use of toxic solvents, reducing environmental impact, and improving production scalability. This presentation will provide an overview of LiCAP’s recent advancements in dry electrode technology, focusing on its application in lithium-ion battery energy storage systems. Key highlights will include: Scalability &amp; Manufacturing Efficiency: Implementation of our roll-to-roll Activated Dry Electrode ® process to streamline production and reduce costs. Electrode Performance: Results demonstrate high C-rate capabilities, enhanced power density, and long cycle life. Recent Industry Collaborations &amp; Pilots: Progress in scaling production, including the commissioning of our POC line in Europe, and efforts to expand battery-grade dry electrode manufacturing in the U.S. As LiCAP continues to refine and expand its dry electrode capabilities, we aim to further enhance next-generation battery and ultracapacitor technologies to support the growing EV and energy storage markets. This session will discuss technical challenges, lessons learned, and future research directions, making a strong case for the role of dry electrode manufacturing in accelerating the clean energy transition.
