Optimizing the Pollution Routing Problem with Emission objective using MAX-MIN Ant System

One of the most important variants of the capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP) is the pollution routing problem (PRP), whose objective is to model the greenhouse emission criterion. This paper looks at the evaluation of the PRP problem using the modified MAX-MIN Ant System (MMAS). The emission is selected as the optimization target, as it offers insight on the economies of environmental-friendly vehicle routing, deprioritizing distance and travel time. This algorithm is tested on the benchmark data set based on real world data from UK. Statistical analysis is conducted and the results analyzed and presented on a dimension-wise basis.
