3-D BPM Analysis of Bending Loss and Modal Power Distribution in PCB-Embedded Polymer Multimode Fibers

The paper investigates the effects of macrobending on polymer-based step-index multimode fiber in optical printed circuit boards. Using the semi-vector and scalar-based 3-D beam propagation method (BPM) and modal field theory, we present variations of modal power distribution and bending loss with some launch conditions and bending radius.
