Entanglement Swapping with ZX Calculus

The ZX calculus is a graph-rewriting technique used (especially in compilers) to minimize quantum circuits. This is the third of three posters designed and presented by participants in the 6W2 Summer 2025 Faculty Learning Community (FLC) in QIS (for HS and middle school teachers) along with graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in the corresponding summer Boot Camp designed for the accelerated MS in QIS program at Indiana University in Bloomington. Here we use ZX calculus to describe entanglement swapping also known as teleportation of entanglement. In a separate poster we used misty states to represent the same exact communication protocol—so the two approaches can be compared and contrasted.
