Kinematic Analysis of Slider-crank Mechanism in Solidworks

Abstract SolidWorks is a powerful computer-aided design software which includes valuable engineering tools: finite element analysis for resistance calculus, fluid flow simulation, tolerance evaluation, Toolbox Library and Utilities, Composer, plastic and motion simulation. In a tutorial style, this paper employs SolidWorks itself to generate the slider-crank 3D geometry and Motion module to analyse its motion for three values of eccentricity. So, the paper’s goal is twofold: firstly, to calculate the kinematic behaviour of the slider-crank mechanism to obtain positions, velocities, and accelerations, and secondly, to compare the theoretical results with those obtained from SolidWorks Motion. The paper’s utility lies in its capacity to serve as a useful resource for beginner scholars and students embarking on their journey in the domain of engineering.
