Development of Leader-Follower based Recording System for Ad-Hoc Microphone Arrays

We propose a mobile recording system for ad-hoc microphone arrays using a leader-follower architecture and TSP-based post-hoc synchronization. A cross-platform application was developed for smartphones and tablets. Experiments with six iPad devices demonstrated synchronization accuracy better than 200 μs and microphone localization errors below 0.05 m. The system can provide a practical foundation for Ad-Hoc Microphone Array-Based applications, such as meeting transcription with spatial audio processing.
