10035-NT-2 Development of a Glioma Panel through Industry-Academia Collaboration and Implementation of Stepwise Precision Brain Tumor Treatment

Abstract Since the revision of the WHO 2021 classification of brain tumors, the integration of molecular genetic diagnostics has become essential in formulating treatment strategies in neuro-oncology. Traditionally, diagnosis and therapeutic planning have been based on resected tumor specimens. However, performing comprehensive genetic analysis using tissue obtained through minimally invasive procedures before tumor resection enables the realization of personalized precision medicine. We have introduced a stepwise neuro-oncology treatment approach for patients with low urgency. This involves performing robot-guided stereotactic biopsy before resection, allowing us to optimize the extent of resection and adjuvant therapy based on molecular diagnostic results. Treatment strategies are further tailored by incorporating preoperative neurological symptoms and the preferences of patients and their families. When necessary, multiple staged surgeries are considered to balance functional preservation and therapeutic efficacy. Furthermore, we have collaborated with industry to develop a novel glioma-specific gene panel based on the existing GALEAS Tumor panel, incorporating chromosomal copy number alterations such as + 7/-10. In this presentation, we will introduce our clinical framework and report glioma-focused genetic analysis data obtained through this new panel. Our future goal is to establish rapid, user-friendly diagnostic systems that are applicable to real-world clinical practice and to explore tumor-specific biomarkers to advance precision neuro-oncology.
