The New England state agencies responsible for rare plant protection reported notable discoveries in 2024 (extending back to 2020 for Connecticut). We report 14 taxa that are additions to the flora of these states: Pluchea odorata (Maine); Atriplex mucronata and Sagittaria engelmanniana (New Hampshire); Paspalum setaceum and Panicum gattingeri (Vermont); Opuntia cespitosa, Phegopteris excelsior, and Viola latiuscula (Massachusetts); Anatherum glomeratum, Geum vernum, Juncus torreyi, Proserpinaca pectinata, and Tipularia discolor (Connecticut); and Rubus cuneifolius (Rhode Island). Twenty-three taxa listed as state historical were rediscovered: three in Maine, four in Vermont, five in Massachusetts, two in Rhode Island, and nine in Connecticut. Other notable finds reported here include new populations for 17 state-listed taxa: five in Maine, four in New Hampshire, two in Vermont, and six in Massachusetts. Updates on activities of the Maine Natural Areas Program, the New Hampshire Natural Heritage Bureau, the Massachusetts Natural Heritage Program, and the Connecticut Natural Diversity Data Base pertaining to rare plant or community studies or ranking changes in 2024 are also provided.
