This paper presents the various issues dealt with during tunnel planning, design, and construction with emphasis on avoidance of potential root causes of disputes. An understanding of the root causes of disputes on tunnel projects is necessary before they can be minimized. This paper highlights some of the root causes of disputes and ways to avoid them.
