Multispectral LED Sensors as Sea Wave Detector

Dry sand has a different colorimetry from wet sand, and this is translated into a different spectral response. In this paper, we propose a LED-photodiode multispectral sensor that works in reflectance at different wavelengths ranging from VIS to NIR able to identify this spectral variation. The sensor is conceived to be mounted on the hull of a boat, so that permitting to analyze the possible arrival of a wave through a simple reflectance measurement. This sensor will have the task of communicating the arrival of the first storm waves to the fisherman, who will promptly proceed with the removal of the boat from the shoreline thus reducing the probability of causing structural damage to the vessel moored on the shore. The SCP multispectral sensor allows you to observe small colorimetric variations of the sand under the boat associated with the arrival of sea waves. Experimental test have been done in laboratory and in field seem to confirm the goodness of our approach.
