OLBIN: a bibliographic database in stellar optical interferometry

JMMC (https://www.jmmc.fr/) is the French expertise center in stellar optical interferometry. It develops and delivers services to the users of all accessible optical interferometers, mainly VLTI/ESO and CHARA/GSU. JMMC's main objective is to enable a better exploitation of these instruments, which are notoriously difficult to master. The center provides software tools and user support at all steps needed to conduct an astrophysical program, from the preparation of observations, to the analysis of the calibrated data, through to their storage into a dedicated database. All of these activities motivated the JMMC to host and maintain a bibliographic database of the domain. Named OLBIN (http://apps.jmmc.fr/bibdb/), this database aims to collect all refereed papers related to Optical Interferometry and referenced in ADS. We present how this database is fed and describe how it is used. Through open-dev python scripts and graphical illustrations, OLBIN allows statistical studies on papers that present astrophysical results. This allows us to measure the impact of the JMMC tools on the research effort that led to the publication, a useful internal metric. It also provides interesting insights into the evolution of the discipline and helps the community to prepare review papers related to optical interferometry. Last but least, OLBIN is, in a way, interactive since astronomers can notice if a paper is mlssing or easily prepare their own bibliographic research using some keywords.
