Land North of Woodcock Road, Flamborough. East Riding of Yorkshire. Archaeology and Heritage Assessment

The archaeology and heritage assessment is a comprehensive examination of information provided by documentary, cartographic and photographic records relating to archaeological sites, the historic landscape and the built environment. Eight trial trenches were excavated. Due to ongoing construction work, the trenches could not be located to match the intended layout in the Written Scheme of Investigation. This was discussed and agreed with the Development Management Archaeologist at the Humber Archaeology Partnership. Trenches were positioned where possible across the site (Fig. 2), including in areas close to the earthwork features. Trenches 7 and 8 were intended to be a single longer trench, however the presence of scaffolding necessitated an interruption in the excavation. The trenches all measure 2m in width and length varying from 5m to 35m. Site was developed. No archaeology found in Trenches 1-8.
