The CORRAM (COral Reef Rapid Assessment Method) protocol is a rapid ecological assessment designed to characterize the condition of tropical coral reef ecosystems. It provides a standardized set of metrics to evaluate coral assemblage structure, benthic community vitality, macro-invertebrate and reef fish communities, as well as the presence of invasive or opportunistic species. The approach combines 100 m² circular plots, quadrat surveys, timed-swim observations of mobile fauna, and the collection of complementary environmental variables. Multimetric indicators are used to generate thematic scores and an overall ecological diagnosis, ensuring spatial and temporal comparability and supporting monitoring, adaptive management, and environmental impact assessments. This operational guide details field implementation procedures, sampling design, observer intercalibration, and data management requirements.
