94 COMTEX-PD: COMT inhibitor experiences and outcomes in parkinson’s disease patients from the accessPD registry

a:2:{s:4:"lang";s:2:"en";s:7:"content";s:1606:"<h3>Objective</h3> To describe patient outcomes and experiences with the COMT inhibitors Opicapone and Entacapone for the management of motor fluctuations in Parkinson’s disease (PD). <h3>Background</h3> COMT inhibitors are key therapeutic agents in the management of motor fluctuations in patients with PD. However, adoption of opicapone as an adjunctive PD treatment in clinical practice and local guidelines in the UK remains limited, and more evidence is needed to understand patients’ experience with opicapone vs. entacapone in real-world settings. <h3>Method</h3> This remote observational patient-reported outcome study utilised the AccessPD registry in the UK to identify PD patients treated with opicapone and entacapone. Eligible patients were consented and completed the Parkinson’s specific (PDQ-39) health-related quality of life questionnaire and a non-validated patient experience survey on current treatment preferences. <h3>Results</h3> Overall, 102 patients (opicapone n=50; entacapone n= 52) participated in the study. Mean (SD) age was 69 (8.92) years for opicapone and 70.4 (9.99) years for entacapone. 38 (76%) and 51 (98%) opicapone and entacapone participants respectively were COMT naïve. The full analysis of the PDQ-39 responses and patient experience survey is ongoing and will be provided at the time of presentation. <h3>Conclusion</h3> The COMTEX-PD results will highlight the importance of taking into account patients‘ preferences when considering the use of COMT inhibitors as adjunctive therapy in PD. lara.akindele{at}bial.com ";}
