Engineering Control Theory: The FXI–Δ–E Deviation-Based Control Architecture

Engineering Control Theory (ECT) presents a deviation-based approach to control system design, formalized through the FXI–Δ–E control architecture.The method operates directly on measurable engineering deviations and achieves stabilization through geometric contraction rather than explicit modeling or cancellation of plant dynamics. The FXI–Δ–E architecture defines a deterministic, memoryless, discrete-time control loop composed of deviation embedding, contraction, inverse mapping, and control output generation. Stabilization arises from repeated contraction of deviation space and does not rely on plant inversion, state estimation, or internal controller memory. This work provides a complete theoretical formulation of the FXI–Δ–E method, including architectural rationale, operator admissibility conditions, stability intuition, robustness considerations, and implementation guidance.A reference software implementation is provided separately as a reproducibility artifact. The theory is intended as an applied engineering control framework and deliberately excludes structural, normative, or life-cycle semantics.
