From Standing Apart to Standing Together A Decolonial Approach to Place-Based Research Using DataCite Metadata

This was a talk given as part of the CARE principles webinar on 11th December 2025, run by the British Library. I took it as an opportunity to reflect on and expand ideas around some of the infrastructuring work we have done through a decolonial lens. The infrastructuring work is carried out in collaboration with Neil Davies at the UC Gump South Pacific Research Station. I am also grateful for discussions with Jane Anderson, NYU, and Ted Habermann, Metadata Game Changers, that informed this presentation. This talk is an extension of my dissertation and defense presentation and I am grateful to my advisor, Leysia Palen, CU Boulder as well as my entire committee for their guidance and feedback on this work.
