EP46 Is Bilateral Arthroscopy a New Trend or Better Method to Heal Both Diseased Hips at Once? Report from Poland.

Abstract In most cases, we know that femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is bilateral. Should we, therefore, consider the approach of bilateral hip arthroscopy? This could potentially spare the patient from undergoing repeated anesthesia, the stress associated with multiple procedures, additional time off work, and the financial burden of a second round of rehabilitation. This study evaluates the rehabilitation outcomes of five patients who underwent bilateral hip arthroscopy for FAI, performed by a single surgeon from Warsaw, with rehabilitation managed by physical therapist Dominika Chruścielewska. The rehabilitation protocol included neural stimulation to facilitate simultaneous loading of both operated hips, under strict control of weight-bearing timing. All patients were assessed at 12 weeks post-surgery using VALD platforms, with surprisingly symmetrical results and no pain reported. These findings suggest that bilateral hip arthroscopy might be a beneficial approach, reducing patient burden while yielding favorable rehabilitation outcomes.
