Developing Relevant, Relatable, and Transformative Training Programs at the Unit Level

This article presents a structured approach for Unit Ministry Teams (UMTs) to develop training that is relevant, relatable, and transformative. Using personal experiences and educational theory, the authors outline a process for UMTs to create training. The article explains the process as determining learning needs, defining clear learning goals, developing learning objectives, and designing learning activities. It provides a method for designing engaging learning activities that facilitate active participation. By aligning training with the commander’s intent and leveraging the UMT’s passions and expertise, the article aims to enhance the effectiveness of UMT training, ultimately contributing to the readiness and resilience of Soldiers. The article concludes with a call for UMTs to evolve and adapt to meet the training needs of their units.
