Field Testing the AeroCloud System for Aeronautical Meteorology: A Case Study from Presov Airport

This paper presents a field demonstration of the AeroCloud system conducted at Prešov Airport as part of a two-year operational testing programme aimed at evaluating remote observation technologies in aeronautical meteorology. The study focuses on a single experimental day, during which thirteen measurement cycles were performed under variable atmospheric conditions. The experiment uniquely compares remote human observations made via the AeroCloud interface with simultaneous in situ reports from certified observers at the airport. During the selected test day, AeroCloud achieved a $92 \%$ agreement in cloud-base estimation, with mean deviations below 200 ft, demonstrating consistent reliability and accurate detection of low-visibility conditions. The case study highlights the system’s robustness in real-world operation and its potential for integration within airport observation networks and digital decision-support platforms.
