CRISIS SITUATIONS AND STATES OF EMERGENCY IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

The previous years show that the countries of Central Europe in particular, face various challenges that pose risks and threats to their functioning, as well as to the health, security, safety and lives of their citizens. Due to the fact that these challenges are so different, various measures are needed to counteract them, often steps that are not accepted on a daily basis in a democratic society. These measures in situations of economic crisis, social conflict in situations of threats are referred to as states of emergency. This article outlines the institution of states of emergency in the Czech Republic. The basic question asked by the author is why this issue is considered important. A slightly different approach to this issue is observed in the Czech Republic compared to the Republic of Poland, i.e. the types of states of emergency and the powers of the authorities to impose them.
