Ground-Based Observations for Validation (GBOV): Latest Updates in Validation Products Generation

The Copernicus Ground Based Observation for Validation (GBOV) service has provided Analysis Ready Validation data for almost a decade. This validation dataset covers several Essential Climate Variables (ECVs), including short and longwave radiation, vegetation products and Surface Soil Moisture. Initially dedicated to supporting the Copernicus EO (Earth Observation) product validation effort, GBOV has reached a worldwide community of users. In recent years, the final validation products, the so-called Land Products (LPs) have undergone major revision to address users' needs better and most importantly improve their relevance and quality. The work presented in this paper details the GBOV service evolution and achievements over the past 5 years.
