Exploring the interventions geared towards addressing learner bullying in the Maune Circuit of the Capricorn District of the Limpopo Province in South Africa

Bullying has been identified as a significant concern, particularly in rural areas such as the Maune Circuit of the Capricorn District in the Limpopo Province. The purpose of this study was to explore the interventions geared towards addressing learners in the Maune Circuit of the Capricorn District of the Limpopo Province in South Africa. The study adopted a qualitative case study, which included interviews and observations. Data was collected from 12 participants using purposive sampling. Participants were selected based on their experiences and the grade attending. The data collected was developed through thematic analysis. The study findings revealed that the strategies that can be used to mitigate school bullying in the Maune Circuit of the Capricorn district of the Limpopo province of South Africa include the provision of continuous education about the dangers of bullying behavior and instilling mutual respect in children. The findings of the study showed that schools should have policies that deal with bullying in the school environment. The stakeholders should be aware of these policies and implement them whenever there are cases of bullying in schools. The findings of the study revealed that there are many policies on human rights and safety in schools. The findings showed that parents are supposed to be involved in the management of learners’ discipline in schools. The findings also indicated that head teachers should collaborate with other professional departments, such as the South African Police Services (SAPS) and nurses.
