Hele-Shaw Cell design for experimental analysis of adhesive flow

Understanding adhesive flow during the bonding process is critical to ensuring joint quality and performance. This work presents the design and implementation of a modular experimental setup based on a Hele-Shaw cell configuration, enabling controlled squeeze flow experiments for different substrate materials and surface conditions. The system integrates with a universal testing machine to apply and measure compression loads, while a camera allows real-time visualization when using transparent substrates. The setup provides a reliable platform for studying adhesive spreading behavior and supports the validation of numerical models under confined geometries, contributing to improved design and processing strategies in structural bonding applications.
