Restructuring the cargo delivery network: Case study in Florianópolis/SC

This article analyzes the restructuring of the freight delivery network in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, based on a case study conducted at a distribution center located in Itajaí, owned by Alpha Alimentos. The qualitative research enabled a detailed understanding of the logistical and operational impacts generated by the redistribution of service regions. Data regarding customer numbers, delivery volumes, and operating costs were analyzed before and after the implementation of the new routing strategy. The results demonstrated a 5.5% reduction in costs per kilogram transported, route optimization, and better fleet utilization. The study demonstrated that reorganization of the logistics network, supported by geographic analysis and strategic route planning, is a determining factor for competitiveness and sustainability in freight Transportation.
