A Web-Based Geospatial Platform for Mapping Public Higher Education Graduates

This paper presents a web-based geospatial portal for visualizing worldwide locations of university graduates. This system uses an interactive map front-end with a lightweight API and a relational database to deliver searchable and filterable views of graduate data. The system is developed using open source libraries (OpenStreetMap, Leaflet, PHP, and MariaDB). It implements marker clustering, responsive layouts, and simple queries to retrieve results by country and cohort. A component and data-flow design enables straightforward deployment in common web environments and facilitates maintainability. The reported results show that interactive geovisualization complements conventional tracer studies by transforming static reports into an exploratory interface for prospective students, graduates, and administrators. The paper contributes (i) a practical integration of graduate-tracking workflows with interactive web mapping, (ii) an API and schema design that favors portability and low-cost operation, and (iii) implementation guidelines that foreground consent, minimal data exposure, and secure handling of personal information.
