Faculty and Student Perspectives on the Implementation of Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan in Arts & Science Colleges

The Viksit Bharat @2047 vision identifies education as the foundational driver for national progress. Within this context, the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan (VBSA) framework is pivotal, designed to merge academic rigor with Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), ethical grounding, skill enhancement, and civic engagement. Arts and Science colleges, serving a vast and varied student demographic, are central to enacting this transformative agenda. This research investigates the perceptions of faculty and students regarding the operationalization of VBSA within these institutions. Employing a descriptive methodology, data was gathered via structured surveys and interviews to capture stakeholder insights. Findings indicate widespread support for the VBSA model, with participants recognizing its significant potential to advance holistic education, instill strong ethical values, and improve graduate employability through integrated skill development. Concurrently, the study identifies considerable implementation barriers. Key challenges include an already overburdened curriculum, insufficient specialized training for educators, and various infrastructural limitations that hinder seamless adoption. These obstacles underscore the gap between policy vision and ground-level execution. The analysis concludes by offering strategic recommendations for institutional leaders and policymakers. Prioritizing focused faculty development, strategically embedding VBSA components without displacing core learning, and investing in necessary resources are emphasized as critical steps. Effectively addressing these challenges is essential for Arts and Science colleges to fulfil their crucial role in nurturing the well-rounded, skilled, and ethically conscious citizens envisioned for a developed India.
